Controller responsible for directing the accounting and human resource functions of the organization. Establishes and maintains the organization’s accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Carries out general accounting functions, including account analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, journal entries, AR, AP, payroll and cash management.

 

Military Service – U.S. Navy, E- 4 Hospital Corpsman 1983 -1991. During this time, also served overseas aboard the USNS Mercy during Operation Desert Storm.

Bear Services engages in new construction and maintenance of fuel service facilities.

Responsibilities include jobsite management, estimating, job costing, budgeting, quality control, and office duties such as invoicing, final and follow-up paper work on all jobs, and overseeing accounts payable/receivable activities. Maintains current UST registration and licenses in TX, LA, CO.

Managed all field operations of four field offices, including four field office supervisors, four field office coordinators, and 42 field employees. Duties included employee and customer relations, office budgeting, quality control, inventory, job costing and completion.

Duties included supervision of all field crews, job costing, management, performance and quality, as well as adherence to all local and state regulatory official requirements, inspections, and permitting. Managed office personnel in job invoicing and accounts payable procedures.

Job Superintendent: Duties included job costing, scheduling, performance, budgeting, and quality control. Duties also included city and state permitting, verification and adherence to local and state requirements and assurance of proper inspection, supervision and performance of steps necessary to complete assigned projects. Assigned projects mainly consisted of the complete construction of convenience stores for Diamond Shamrock, Circle K Corp., and Phillips 66.

Maintains a safe work environment and resolves any arising on-site complications or plan discrepancies. Maintains daily reports and oversees the project from beginning to completion.

Worked closely with Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Facility personnel to develop project details for use in capital budgets. Distributed bid documents and qualified subcontractor bids. Responsible for onsite supervision of all projects. Ensured the timely completion of all tasks. Completed projects within budget while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Onsite supervision of retail remodels and new construction. Scheduled subcontractors and the delivery of materials. Maintained a safe work environment which resulted in no lost time accidents. Identified and quickly resolve discrepancies between drawing and onsite conditions to avoid cost and schedule overruns. Maintained daily reports and onsite safety meeting documents, as well as verified and submitted change-order documents.
